Ramyaa Srinivasan is a research optometrist working in Dr. Rajiv Raman's research team since the year 2019. She received her Master's degree in Optometry from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in collaboration with The Sankara Nethralaya Academy, Chennai. She developed a particular interest in the area of retinal research while doing her M.Optom thesis project, 'Identifying Preferred Retinal Loci in Ocular Disease using Custom Made Algorithm', which was supervised by Dr. Rajiv Raman. His enthusiasm and innovative experimental approaches in the area of vitreo-retinal study were an inspiration to her work.
She has been involved in various projects that include both prospective and retrospective studies as well. She has also done collaboration projects with Heidelberg Engineering (Spectralis HRA+ OCT), Diopsys Inc (NOVA), Ocuscore, and Forus Health. She has published original articles in various scientific journals. Currently, she is involved in a Clinical trial - Investigation of macular pigment supplementation using dual-wavelength autofluorescence retinal imaging modality.
Some of her work includes the following:
Evaluation of Macular pigment optical density in the South Indian population.
Distribution of macular pigments in macular telangiectasia type 2.
Distribution of macular pigments in macular telangiectasia type 2 and correlation with optical coherence tomography characteristics and visual acuity.
Influence of Different Types of Retinal Cameras on the Performance of Deep Learning Algorithms in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
