Janarthanam Jothi Balaji is also known as JJB in the ophthalmic community. As a clinical optometrist, and also has an interest in vision research. His specializations are myopia management & ophthalmic imaging. He has thirty years of experience in both clinical and academic optometry. In 2012, he earned his M.Phil from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India. At the Medical Research Foundation he works as a Senior Manager in the Department of Optometry. In addition, he also works as a Senior Optometrist at the Myopia Management Clinic. He has several articles to his name in scholarly journals. He mentors students working on research projects at ESO/ TSNA and teaches Masters's Students at The Sankara Nethralaya Academy affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai. His hobbies are travel and mobile phone photography, and cooking.
