Ms Brughanya is a passionate vision science researcher, currently working as a research optometrist at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India. She is a post-graduate in optometry, and now her research focuses on developing and utilizing a machine learning model for treating age-related macular degeneration. Her interests include artificial intelligence in retinal disease, structural and functional understanding of the retina, retinal diagnostics and low vision management. She is highly skilled in clinical research and has a good manoeuvre in handling big data for machine learning research. She presented her research works at several scientific conferences in India. Besides clinical research, she serves in the editorial board member team as an ad hoc reviewer for a high-impact journal. Her journey as a researcher and a reviewer has equipped her with excellent knowledge and expertise in artificial intelligence for retinal disease, diabetic retinopathy, age-related degeneration and retinal vascular anomalies.
