Dr. Subbiah M currently serves as the Mentor for Data Science & Health Data Modeling at KAI-XEN Health Intelligence Pte. Ltd, Singapore. He is also an Advisor at Pratiti Analytics Solutions LLP, a start-up analytical company, and works as the Principal Data Scientist at ThinkLabz, Chennai, focusing on research and development, training, and consultancy in Data Science, Data Services, and Analytical Product Development.
Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Subbiah spent one year as a Data Scientist at HCL Technologies Ltd. Prior to that, he held academic positions for 23 years across various faculties in Engineering and Arts and Science Colleges. Throughout his career, he has been involved in academic and industrial training for almost two decades, covering diverse fields such as Life Sciences, Engineering, Management, Earth Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Humanities. His expertise lies in Statistical Inference on Meta-Analysis, Causal Analysis, and Generalized Linear Models, utilizing both Classical and Bayesian approaches. Dr. Subbiah holds a Master's degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Bayesian Inference from the University of Madras, obtained in 2009. He also holds a PG Diploma in Operations Research from Pondicherry University.
He is proficient in Computer Intensive Techniques such as Bootstrap Methods, Machine Learning Procedures, and Statistical/Probabilistic Computations using R, Stan, and Python. He has developed four statistical analysis packages in R, all of which are listed in MRAN – Microsoft R Open. Additionally, he has mentored nine projects spanning various industrial areas such as HRM, Dental Anthropology, and Psychology.
Dr. Subbiah has also been actively involved in academic mentoring activities, particularly focusing on Bayesian techniques for Actuarial Applications since 2016. He has participated in events such as the Indian Association for Statistics in Clinical Trials (IASCT), and Pharmaceutical Users Software Exchange (PHUSE) India, and has delivered lectures at pharmaceutical companies including GSK in Bangalore.
Dr. Subbiah has actively contributed to Bayesian research in areas including Clinical Trials, Medical Statistics, Ecology, and Mediation Modeling. His research accomplishments include 23 published articles in National and International Peer-Reviewed Journals and 18 Conference Proceedings covering Bayesian and Classical Data Science methods. Dr. Subbiah has collaborated with Sankara Nethralaya on a couple of publications, especially focusing on the risk scorecard for predicting diabetic retinopathy using both Classical and Bayesian approaches, alongside fellow researchers from the institution.
